Are You One Of “The Best Small Companies in America”?
Forbes and the Small Giants Community are currently accepting nominations for “The Best Small Companies in America,” an annual award highlighting small businesses with a big impact. These companies are leaders in their industry, committed to their employees and their community, while focusing on responsible growth.
The nomination questionnaire digs below the surface to really reflect and evaluate the organizational structure and characteristics that make companies unique. Gone are the days that a company only had to be profitable (although profitability is still an integral part of the judging criteria) to be considered great. Now, things like company culture, leadership styles, and employee satisfaction, are all contributing factors. Companies now must be considering the triple-bottom line in their business model to be recognized as one of America’s Best Small Companies.
Previous winners vary in employee headcount, revenue generation, and overall business model, recognizing a Minnesota bicycle shop to a California faux Christmas tree company, and everything in between.
While this nomination might not come at the right time for some companies, the process alone should provide a useful opportunity to reflect on your own company values along with identifying areas you’re doing well, and areas within your company that need more attention.
Here at BodeTree, helping small businesses thrive is at the core of our vision. We provide a complete financial management and engagement solution that syncs with small business financial accounts (bank accounts, credit cards, and accounting systems) in minutes to instantly organize their numbers into structured financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and full financial reports. But our work doesn’t end there—we also supply education, funding and additional service solutions to support the entire business, not just the financial part.
The Small Giants Community follows a similar mission to develop and support values-driven businesses and leaders. The Small Giants Summit, currently happening in Denver, Colorado, is a great example of what this organization is doing to support both local and internal small businesses.
